  • System Installer Level 1,
    Must have some formal or informal knowledge of electricity and HVAC. Must be able to follow and take direction with minor supervision. Must have a clean appearance, and be personable with other employees. Must be a self starter and show up on time



  • System Installer Level 2,
    Able to perform all the work of a System Installer – Level 1 plus the following; Must be able to install all type of conduit (up to 1 1/2”) without supervision. Must be able to install low voltage cable from prints without supervision. Must have minor computer skills, must be able to download databases to controllers, monitor system points, and must be able to commission RTUs and lighting controllers. Work must be done in professional manner. TWO years of experience in the controls trade as a system installer.



  • System Technician – Level 1
    Able to perform all the work of a System Installer - Level 2 plus the following; Must have a working knowledge of the DDC systems used, with at least THREE years of experience of installing and terminating current DDC systems. Must understand simple troubleshooting and moderately complex commissioning procedures. Must have working knowledge of the control program used and general knowledge of computers, HVAC, and typical Electrical panelboards and switchgear. Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can do this work with minimal supervision.


  • System Technician – Level 2
    Able to perform all the work of a System Technician- Level 1 plus the following: Must be able to program and commission a complete DDC system with minimal supervision. Must be able to provide as-built documentation and required paperwork for DDC system closeout. Must be able to communicate effectively with the onsite personnel regarding system layout and functionality. Must be able to run a crew of installers. Must be able to provide customer training on the field hardware and layout. Must be able to understand some HVAC systems and Lighting controls and have at least THREE years of experience installing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting current building controls systems.


  • System Technician – Level 3
    Able to perform all the work of a System Technician – Level 2 plus the following; Must be able to program, commission and terminate most DDC systems without supervision. Must have a good working knowledge of computers. Must be able to provide customer training on the installed systems. Must be able to understand HVAC systems and Lighting Controls with only minimal supervision. Must have at least FOUR years of experience installing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting complex BMS problems.



  • System Technician – Level 4
    Able to perform all the work of a System Technician – Level 3 plus the following; Must able to understand completely HVAC, lighting, power monitoring controls without any supervision. Must be able to organize and lead a crew of up to (4) in such a way that all work will be performed efficiently with accurate documentation. Must bring jobs in at- or under-budget and make sure that all work is done to the customer’s satisfaction. Generally this will require a minimum of FIVE years of experience in the DDC system trade.



  • Master System Technician/Programmer
    Proficient at performing all the work of the a System Technician – Level 4 plus the following; Must be able to understand and develop technical solutions to highly complex field problems with HVAC and lighting controls. Must be a leader and be able to run multiple work crews without any supervision. Must have a minimum of SIX years of experience in the DDC system trade with two or more in a role of budget and personnel responsibility.
    Must be able to program and design complexed control and systems algorithms.
